      The Foster Grandparent Recognition Banquet was held on July 22 in O'Fallon.  As part of the fun, seniors were presented their awards by Elvis and Marilyn Monroe impersonators.
    he Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) offers participants the satisfaction of helping others.  Seniors ages 55 and older who meet income qualifications are linked with sites that assist children in Lincoln, St. Charles and Warren counties.  Foster grandparents can receive a tax free stipend, travel reimbursements, insurance, paid training and the chance to attend social events.  Get more information on FGP by calling 636-272-3477.

    he Foster Grandparent Program offers income-qualifying people ages 55 and older a chance to put their experience and expertise to work for local communities.  FGP members serve as mentors, tutors and caregivers for at-risk children and youth with special needs through: Community Organizations, Schools, Hospitals, Drug-Treatment Facilities, Correctional Institutions, Head Start, and Daycare Centers.

    ECAC administers the program in Lincoln, St. Charles and Warren counties through contracts and grants from the Corporation for National & Community Service. 

    Participants:

    • Must pass a Child abuse and neglect screening
    • Receive a tax-free stipend
    • Receive travel reimbursements or assistance
    • Other benefits
