ffordable housing is the goal of NECAC’s Section 8 – Housing Choice Voucher rental assistance program. The elderly, disabled and low-income individuals and families are eligible for this program. The amount of rental assistance provided is determined by the individual or family’s income. Participants may select single family homes, mobile homes and apartments/duplexes that are decent, safe and sanitary and can pass the HUD inspection.
NECAC also offers the Family Self Sufficiency program and the Homeownership program to current participants of the Section 8 program. The Family Self Sufficiency program is designed to help families live without assistance. The Homeownership program provides eligible individuals and families the opportunity to purchase their own home.
The Section 8 waiting list is currently closed for new applications. NECAC announces notices in local newspapers and radio stations when the waiting list will reopen.
