Do we have and how do I get assistance for utilities?
Energy assistance applications are accepted beginning October 1 for elderly/disabled, and November 1 for everyone else and ends March 31. You will need to complete an application to determine eligibility. If you are in need of funding at other times you will need to check with your local office about availability.
Do we have and how do I apply for ECIP?
If you have been approved for energy assistance since October 1, you automatically qualify unless you have moved. You will need to contact us to see if any funding is available and you must have a disconnect notice or be at 20% or below on propane.
How much money can you pay on my utility bill?
It is determined based on income, household size and type of fuel
Did you pay all my utility bill and when?
If you submitted a regular bill it will take 30 days to process it. You will be notified of eligibility by letter after 30 days. If it is a disconnect notice we have 48 hours to get it processed and pledged. Contact your utility company after 48 hours before contacting us. Timelines are dependent upon all correct information turned in with application.
Can we help with electric bill?
Fill out an application and the energy assistance department will process your application to see if you are eligible. If you submitted a regular bill it will take 30 days to process it. Contact your utility company after 48 hours before contacting us. Timelines are dependent upon all correct information turned in with application.

The state will contact your utility company to make sure that you are their customer before they release a check to them. The letter that the state sends to you will explain this. If it is a disconnect notice we have 48 hours to get it processed and pledged. That pledge is a promise of a check that will be issued to the utility company at a later date.
What utility companies can we help with?
We can process an application no matter what the utility company is. Depending upon whether or not the company is contracted with the state will determine if the energy assistance check goes directly to them or sent to you to take to them.
