History
The North East Community Action Corporation is one of 19 not for profit Community Action Agencies in Missouri and one of more than 1,000 across the nation
For more than 57 years, NECAC has been administering and delivering social service, community health and public housing programs to the low income, elderly, youth, disabled and disadvantaged through contracts and grants with federal, state and local governments, other non profit agencies and private businesses.
NECAC’s diversified service area covers the nine rural counties of Lewis, Macon, Marion, Monroe, Montgomery, Pike, Ralls, Randolph and Shelby, and the three metropolitan counties of Lincoln, St. Charles and Warren Programs are delivered to clients through service centers operated in each county.
NECAC is governed by a 36 member volunteer Board of Directors consisting of one Public Elected Official, one elected Civic Interest Representative and one elected Low Income Representative from each county The structure ensures fair and equal community based representation, decision making and accountability.
NECAC has expanded greatly since its founding in 1965 and currently has an annual budget of more than 26 million The agency oversees more than 60 programs, with about 95 full time and more than 100 part time employees.

Our Mission is to assist the disadvantaged within our service area in their efforts to rise above poverty by providing needed services to enable each individual to function at his or her own improved financial, physical, mental and social level.
Our Vision
People will become empowered with their own communities to eliminate poverty so that all residents can enjoy and achieve economic independence. We are committed to building stronger communities by strengthening families. Our visualization is that all community members, including lower income people themselves, will take the responsibility and work together to alleviate the cause of poverty.
